On Tuesday, May 19, the Battle of Gloucester Reenactment Committee held a community information session about the upcoming Battle of Gloucester reenactment events to be held on June 20-21.
About 40 business owners, tourism professionals, residents and volunteers interested in the reenactment gathered in Captain’s Courageous Room at Minglewood Harborfront for the meeting.
Attendees heard an overview of the weekend’s activities and event logistics, the ways businesses and organizations can get involved and how they can share the story of the battle with visitors.
There was a lively discussion about not only the details of the reenactment, but also the history of the battle. The committee spoke with attendees about how they will collaborate to ensure the weekend is truly special for the Gloucester community and beyond.
“We were excited to see so many community members come out to the meeting and learn about the reenactment,” said Michael Graves, Battle of Gloucester Committee member and Officer Commanding of His Majesty’s Tenth Regiment of Foot in America. “We had a great conversation about how businesses and community organizations will be involved throughout the weekend, and we look forward to seeing many of the attendees again at Stage Fort Park.”
The Battle of Gloucester Reenactment Committee wishes to thank Minglewood Harborfront for hosting the meeting.
